reseed - seeds urandom with a truly random seed retrieved from
This manual page documents briefly the reseed command. This manual
page was written for the Debian distribution because the original
program does not have a manual page.
reseed is a perl script that retrieves a truly random seed from the
Internet (random.org) and uses it to reseed the linux random number
It is run once during the installation of the package only, as the
entropy pool is saved between reboots by the /etc/init.d/urandom
script. You must shut down cleanly after reseeding the random number
generator so as the new entropy pool is saved correctly.
This manual page was written by Sam Johnston <firstname.lastname@example.org>, for the
Debian GNU/Linux system (but may be used by others).
