       getppid - get the parent process ID

SYNOPSIS

DESCRIPTION

       The getppid() function shall return the parent process ID of the calling process.

RETURN VALUE

       The  getppid()  function  shall  always  be  successful and no return value is reserved to
       indicate an error.
